TANNER, Mark D - age 67 of Swartz Creek, passed away April 15, 2025. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. The family will receive guests from 12 PM - 3 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Mark’s vibrant spirit and love for life touched everyone around him, and he will be dearly missed. Mark was born in Flint to Donald Vernon and Patricia Kathleen (Pailthorp) Tanner. He lived in Davison, Hillman, and Swartz Creek. An enthusiastic sportsman, Mark found joy in hunting, fishing, and exploring the trails around his home in Hillman. He had a passion for restoring cars, spending hours in his barn working on his cherished yellow pickup truck and VW Bug. Mark had a deep love for his family, particularly for his grandson, Hunter, with whom he enjoyed spending countless hours playing with remote-controlled cars, fishing, and of course, target practice. His kindness and generosity were felt by many; he was a true friend who never met a stranger and would readily lend a helping hand. Mark lived life with an open heart, offering grace and understanding to others, unafraid to show how much he cared. Mark is survived by his daughter, Brooke, and her husband, Tim Jansen; his beloved grandson, Hunter Jansen; his sister, Kay, and her husband, John Forys; two nieces, Stacy (Josh) Evans and Megan (Luke) Avery; his girlfriend, Stacy Prado; his previous wife, Gail; many members of the DuFord family and great friends whom he considered family. In lieu of flowers, Mark suggested contributions be made to Hunter’s college fund, so his legacy could live on through Hunter's education. This can be done at Ugift529.com using code Y7P-M1V.
