Mark Moses Valdez, age 48, left us all too soon on July 17, 2023. With heavy hearts, we gather to remember and celebrate the life of a remarkable individual. A service in honor of Mark will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, located at 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Mark was a man who radiated warmth and charisma. His outgoing personality drew people towards him and he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel at ease in his presence. His exceptional friendliness and kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to know him. Known as the biggest jokester among his friends and family, Mark's laughter was infectious, and he could turn even the gloomiest of days into a joyous affair. But beyond his humor, he possessed the biggest heart. He cared deeply for his loved ones and was always there to offer a listening ear, a helping hand, or a shoulder to lean on.
Family meant the world to Mark, and he cherished his role as a devoted and loving father. His unconditional love for his children knew no bounds. His legacy of love will forever endure in the hearts of those he held dear.
A man of wit and intelligence, Mark had an extraordinary ability to be a smart ass and was stubborn in the most endearing way. Sports and gambling were among his passions, and he enjoyed the thrill of competition and chance. Mark also had a spirit for adventure and loved to explore new places, making every trip a memorable experience.
His last selfless act was a testament to the caring soul he embodied. Mark's final gesture was one of generosity and altruism as he donated his earthly shell to save others, showing once again how much he cared for others.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Valdez; his fur baby, Sur Valdez; his grandparents, Jessie and Petra Valdez, and Jessie and Margaret Valdez; his uncle, David Valdez; and his aunt Mary V. Flores.
Mark is survived by the love of his life his wife, Cynthia Valdez; his children, Nathaniel Valdez (Breonnia), Mateo Valdez, Madison Valdez, and Rylie Nead; honorary sons, Joshua Shipp, and Rowdy Hester; and bonus kids, Ethan, Alex, Audrie, Joey, Juanie, David, and Braylyn; sister, Valerie Moreno (John); brother, John Zellner (Cat); honorary brother, Eric Flores (Lori); honorary sister, Cassandra Lopez (Marcus); special aunts, Ester Ballew, Mary Baker, and Lydia Garza; special uncle, Robert Valdez, and Vale Flores; nephews, JD Moreno, and Gabriel Moreno; niece, Taylor Zellner; honorary nieces and nephews, Brianna Flores, Jaden Flores, Gavin Lopez, and Gabriella Lopez; mother of his children, Christina Gray; closest cousin, Denise Garcia Baker; and special friends, JR Zamora, Fred Verastigue, Brandy Rangel, Sylvia Johnson, Ryan Darby, Sanya Hitch, Stephanie Proffitt, Pamela Bradley, and all his postal family.

Mark, I already miss talking and joking with you. We always made sure to give each other a hard time. You were so proud of your kiddos. I remember you calling them every morning to make sure they were up for school. You always made sure to tell them "I love you". Gonna miss you brother. Rest in peace.

It was with great shock and sorrow that I received the message that Mark had died. I saw him recently and he looked great and was his usual humorous self. He was known for being a teaser but with a kind heart and seeking a laugh. May his memory and the Lord's peace and joy be with all those he leaves behind.

Mark was our mailman for many years. I recently got to visit with him downtown and I am grateful to get to catch up. He was always a joy and good man. My thoughts are with his family. Jennifer Lee-Shultz
