Mark Valenti Obituary
Wood River - Mark A. Valenti, 64, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1961 in Alton, he was the son of Peter J. Valenti and Vivian (Higgins) Winslow. They both preceded him in death.
Mark was a longtime laborer for Local #338 in Wood River. From a young age he played slow-pitch softball, and when he retired he added golf to his favorite pastimes. He loved playing jokes and being ornery, and his grandson remembers him often making funny noises.
Survivors include his daughter, Brooke (Josh) Valenti-Jouett of Sherman, IL; his grandson, Rhett Jouett; his sister, Missy (Mike) Marshall of Moro; special niece, Sydney (Jake) Buhs and special nephew, Travis Marshall; a stepbrother Rick Guthrie and a stepsister, Vonnie Pinkos.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his stepdad, Carl Guthrie.
The family will hold a Celebration of Mark's life from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Wood River Moose Lodge.

Mark was a couple of years behind me in school, but I remember him well. He was the sweetest guy with a great sense of humor. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers.
