Mark Vucurovich Obituary
Mark Anthony Vucurovich, 74, of Butte, Montana, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Mark was born on December 21, 1951, in Butte, Montana, to Peter and Gloria Vucurovich. He graduated from Butte High School before continuing his education at the University of Montana, where he earned his undergraduate degree, and later at Gonzaga University School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 1978.
Mark dedicated 47 years to practicing law in his hometown of Butte, where he served his community with commitment, integrity, and sharp wit. He was known for his sense of humor, his deep love of music, and his enjoyment of cruising the drag in Butte. Mark was also a devoted fan of University of Montana football and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Grizzlies, Up With Montana Boys!
Besides his deep love for his family and a Saturday football game at Washington Grizzly Stadium, many of Mark's glory days were spent at Canyon Ferry Lake in Kim's Marina Bay with family and friends. On the drive to the lake, Mark and his family had a long-standing tradition, the first person to spot the water would excitedly shout "Lake!" What started as one jet ski soon turned into two, and eventually Mark graduated to owning a boat, though many still questioned his captain status even after years at the helm. He especially loved taking his daughters and their friends out to tube behind the boat. Instead of the traditional thumbs-up to signal they were ready to go, Mark required everyone to shout, "Let her happen, Captain!" before he would hit the throttle. For Mark, there was nothing better than being out on the lake, listening to good music with a turkey sandwich and a Pepsi in hand, surrounded by the people he loved.
Above all, Mark cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Vucurovich; his children, Shea Vucurovich and Tess Vucurovich (Pat Burt); and his two grandchildren, Nola Vucurovich and Grant Burt, his beloved cousin Margie Downey, lifelong friends Willie and Marissa Newman, and countless other friends and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Gloria Vucurovich, and his brother, Peter Vucurovich.
Mark will be remembered for his humor, his love of family and friends, and the many memories made on the water, in the stands, and around the people who meant the most to him.
A prayer service and reception will be held at The Finlen Hotel on March 11th 2026 from 11 AM - 1 PM in Butte.
