Mark Wagar, age 64, of Riga, Michigan passed away on September 18th. Born in Toledo, Ohio on May 9th 1961, son of Jack & Doris Wagar. Mark went on to earn his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Bowling Green State University, pursuing his lifelong passion for art and craftsmanship.
Mark was a talented artist whose creativity touched every aspect of his life. As the proud owner and creator of Wagar Glass, he built a life’s work through his glass creations, earning him recognition across the country. He was honored twice with the prestigious Dominick Labino Award for Excellence in Glass, and his work received numerous awards at juried art shows and exhibitions throughout the United States. His pieces, admired for their graceful forms and unmistakable personal touch, reflected the care and soul he poured into his craft.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was known for his humor, loyalty, and unmistakable spark that made him one of a kind. He found joy in his art, in the company of his friends, and in the special moments he shared with his daughter.
He is survived by his daughter, Zoë (Charles) Wagar of Denver, CO, and brother, Scott (Rebecca) Wagar, of Hillsboro, OR.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to honor Mark’s memory by supporting local artists or creating something beautiful with their own hands, just as he did every day.
