PETERSBURG, IOWA
Mark Aloysious Westhoff, 82, of Petersburg, Iowa, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 11, 2025.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 at Kramer-Morris Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SS Peter and Paul Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Mark was born in Farley, Iowa, on May 22, 1943, son of Aloysious J. and Henrietta (Naber) Westhoff. He attended school in Petersburg through the eighth grade and graduated from St Francis Xavier High School.
He married Joyce A. Koopmann on November 28, 1963, at St. Boniface Church in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they made a life of farming and settled on the Westhoff family farm in 1970. To their union, three children were born, Lois, Wayne, and Joan.
Mark is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce (Koopmann) Westhoff of Petersburg, Lois (Brad) Lawrence of Petersburg, Wayne (Lisa) Westhoff of Petersburg, and Joan Westhoff of Dyersville; grandchildren: Ethan (Robin) Lawrence, Levi (Kayla) Lawrence, Trevor (Becky) Westhoff, Trent Westhoff, Shelby (Weston) Svoboda, and Reilly Westhoff; great-grandchildren: Ruby Lawrence, Graham and Mason Westhoff. Mark is also survived by four sisters: Grace Hermsen of Dyersville, Del McFadden of Woodbury, MN, Mary (Richard) Bixby of Marion, Iowa, and Carol (Bill) Noble of Kona, HI; in-laws, Betty Westhoff of Dyersville, Anthony (Eldora) Koopmann, Dyersville, Sandy Koopmann, Peosta, and Doris Koopmann, Dyersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Joyce’s parents, Alfred and Evelyn Koopmann; brothers: Walter and Floyd; and in-laws: Donald Koopmann, Jim Koopmann, Mary (Koopmann) and Lloyd Heims, Janet Westhoff, Roger Hermsen, and Ed McFadden.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials are preferred in Mark’s memory. The family thanks everyone who prayed and thought of Mark this past month.
