Marlanda Thompson Obituary
Marlanda JuJuan "Jack" Thompson was born May 11, 1966 to Brenda Thompson and Marland Holbert in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was better known as "Jack" to those who knew him. The name was given to him because he looked so much like his grandpa Jack Holbert.
Jack attended Beggs Public Schools in Beggs, Oklahoma. Upon graduation he received a basketball scholarship to Wesleyan College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In his third year at Wesleyan he transferred to East Central in Ada, Oklahoma to complete his degree in Criminal Justice, the juvenile division.
After graduation he joined the army for 16 years of honorable service. His last 7 years he worked as a civilian contractor for the military serving overseas in Afgr, Kuwait and later in Reno, Nevada. He returned home to take care of his wife, Dana Arnette (Nash) Thompson, who passed away from cancer. They were married in 1990. To this union two children, Justin and Rudi, were born.
Jack accepted Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Church-South in Beggs, Oklahoma under the pastorship of Rev. Curtis Lynch. After marriage, he joined Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, under the pastorship of Rev. Rudolph Nash. He returned to First Baptist South in 2022.
Jack was an awesome Man of God, husband, dad, grandpa, brother, son and friend. If you ever needed anything and he had it, you had it. He would give you the shirt off of his back. If you ever called him your friend or brother, you had a friend and a brother indeed. His life was dedicated to his God. There was never a day that he missed having his Morning Prayer time.
Mr. Marlanda JuJuan "Jack" Thompson, 59, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, transitioned into Eternal Rest on Saturday morning June 14,2025, with his loving and devoted family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dana, Father-in-Law Rudolph Nash, Dad, Marland Holbert, Second Dad, Johnny Demry, Grandpa Jack Holbert, Uncles James and Joe Thompson, Aunt Josilyn McDaniel, Brother Ray Demry.
Jack leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life: His Mother Brenda Demry, his Son, Justin (Amber) Thompson, and Grandson Liam of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his Daughter Rudi (Fidel) Diallo and Granddaughter London of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. 1 brother, Deron (Sandee) Thompson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. 5 sisters: Myra (Austin) Behn and NaKeya Demry of Beggs, Oklahoma, Darla Matthews of Bixby, Oklahoma, Delilah Demry and Darnella Dean of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 3 aunts: Kathryn Colbert of Beggs, Oklahoma, Ester Holier of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Annabelle Grimmett of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mother-in-Law, Ruth Nash of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. 5 uncles: Johnny, Lenard, Duane, Dickey and Tim. Also a Special Friend and Caregiver Rhonda Hilger. And a host of relatives and friends.
The Final Salute for "Jack" will commence on Friday, June 20, 2025 at High Noon in the most holy sanctuary of First Baptist Church-South in Beggs, Oklahoma, where Pastor Greg Lewis is the gracious host, Dr. Floyd Williams will officiate and Bro. Rod Thompson will deliver the eulogy.
You may visit "Jack" on Thursday, June 19, 2025 between the hours of 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.
The Christian Committal and Military Honors will immediately follow the services in the Beggs City Cemetery in Beggs, Oklahoma.
