Marlane Arneson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eaton Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Main Chapel on Mar. 30, 2026.
Marlane Frances Arneson, 77, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on October 2, 1948 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Frank and Francis (Kessler) Lucente, Marlane lived a fulfilling life enriched by love, family, and faith.

Marlane grew up in a large Catholic family in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she attended school and formed the foundational relationships that would guide her throughout her life. In 1967, she married the love of her life, Frank Arneson, on November 25th. Together, they built a warm and nurturing home, welcoming four children into their family: Destry, Kari, Darby, and Anjill. Over the years, they were active members of the Jehovah's Witnesses, finding comfort and companionship within their faith community. Marlane and Frank dedicated themselves to raising their children in the St. Paul area, eventually settling into a new home in Lexington, Minnesota, in 1973.

A devoted wife and mother, Marlane's life revolved around her family. She took immense pride in caring for her loved ones, ensuring that their home was always filled with warmth and joy.

In 1991, Marlane and Frank embarked on a new chapter of their lives, moving to Salem, Oregon. There, Marlane took on various clerical jobs, bringing her diligence and kindness to each role until she and Frank retired. In retirement, they cherished their time exploring the picturesque Oregon coast, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

After Frank's passing in 2018, Marlane remained resilient, drawing strength from her family and faith. In 2023, she moved to Sullivan, Missouri, to be closer to her family, who were the light of her life. Marlane deeply cherished her relationships with her grandchildren, maintaining close contact with them and sharing in their joys and achievements until her passing.

Marlane was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of her favorite books. She had a keen eye for antiquing, always on the lookout for unique treasures that spoke to her love of history and beauty. Her appreciation for nature was evident in her passion for bird watching, an activity she enjoyed while spending time outdoors, breathing in the fresh air and marveling at the wonders of the natural world.

Marlane is survived by her children: Destry Arneson of Sullivan, MO, Kari Huitt and husband, Dale of Las Cruces, NM, Darby Arneson and wife, Trina of Cuba, MO and Anjill Arneson of Bend, OR; 5 grandchildren: Evan Huitt of Las Cruces, NM, Dalton Arneson of Cuba, MO, Kyra Arneson and fiancé, Kian Knudegaard of Phoenix, AZ, Jae Clough and Myles Clough both of Salem, OR; a sister, Darcy Gaffke of St. Clair, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents, Frank and Francis Lucente; and 3 brothers: Frank, Derryle, and Paul.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses of Sullivan. Cremation has taken place.
