Marlee Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 24, 2025.
Thelma Marlene Noga Moore passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Aurora, CO. She was 93 years old. She was born on November 12, 1931 in Minnesota and will be buried alongside her husband at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Elizabeth, son Thomas Nihl, son-in-law, Anthony Joseph and her grandchildren, Liliana Elisabeth, David Nihl Walter, Emily Hope and Sarah Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60+ years, Nihl L. Moore Jr, her son Lawrence Nihl, her mother Lillian, her father Lawrence, her brother Quentin and her sister Marilyn.
"Marlee" grew up in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Her father, Lawrence Noga, was a stone cutter who worked for Cold Spring Granite Company and her mother was a homemaker. Marlee was a tomboy, and she enjoyed playing baseball with her brother and his friends. In 1948, the entire family moved to Colorado Springs, CO where her father started his own granite company in Manitou Springs. Marlee went to Palmer High School for her senior year. After graduation she went to work for the Alexander Film Company. The company made commercials that were played in movie theaters. In 1952, she took a part time job at the Arthur Murray Dance School located at the Antlers Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs. There, she met her future husband, Nihl Moore, as both were dance instructors. He was in the Air Force stationed at Peterson AFB. They married on November 28, 1952 and their first son was born the next year. After his service in the Air Force, they moved to East Lansing, MI so Nihl could attend Michigan State University. After graduation they lived in Battle Creek, MI where their daughter was born and then Muskegon, MI where their second son arrived. In 1965, they moved to Mt. Prospect, IL and then settled in Arlington Heights, IL. Marlee and Nihl raised a beautiful family in Arlington Heights. Before retirement, Marlee and Nihl traveled to Germany, Austria, England and elsewhere. They eventually settled in Colorado in 1992 after the birth of their first grandchild.
When her children were young, she started a craft business and over the years made many handmade items which she sold at many shows including two
very successful shows she ran herself and with her daughter. She was a very gifted floral designer and really had a talent for arranging flowers. She played the organ beautifully and absolutely LOVED westerns. She loved playing video poker. Many fun times were spent in Las Vegas and Blackhawk with her family. She always dressed up to go out. She was always a very classy lady.
Memorial service will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Denver Botanic Gardens.
