Marlene Adams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel on Mar. 15, 2024.
Marlene Korczakowski Adams, 69, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024 in
Vancouver, WA. Marlene was born May 20, 1954 in Scranton, PA to Joe and
Millie Korczakowski. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Arnold Adams,
daughter Heather (Carson), granddaughter Lilah, grandson Gant and sister Lenore
Butler.
Marlene attended grade schools in Lackawanna County PA, earned a BS in
Political Science from Marywood College in Scranton PA, graduating at the top of
her class. She met her future husband while attending Georgetown University Law
Center from which she earned a JD in law in 1979.
She relocated to the Northwest with her husband in 1980 where their daughter was
born. Arnold's career led them to varied locations from coast to coast before
resettling in Vancouver in 1995. Along the way, Marlene continued her quest for
continued educational experiences, studying geology at Western Wyoming
Community College in Green River, Wyoming, earning a BS in Chemistry from
Northern Illinois University then she competed her academic course work for a
secondary teaching degree from Weber State Univ in Utah.
Upon returning to the Northwest, Marlene turned her attention to group activities.
Ma Jong became one of her early favorites. She utilized her mathematical aptitude
by analyzing various scoring plans and proposing a logical logarithmic scale.
Marlene later turned her attentions to politics. She spent one election cycle
analyzing the opinions of several candidates for the Washington State Supreme
Court posting her analysis on a personal website. During a candidate meet and
greet event, one of the candidates told her that she was one of very few people who
had taken time to read and comment on candidates written opinions.
Marlene ran unsuccessfully for the Washington State House of Representatives
twice. Once as a Democrat in the 18 th Legislative District and the second time in
2002 as an Independent Candidate in the 49 th Legislative District after being
redistricted. She remained active in politics thereafter as a Republican PCO and a
member of the WFRW in Clark County. Marlene was ahead of her time when she
walked away from her original party.
Marlene will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
