Marlene was born on June 14, 1940, in Medford, Wisconsin to Hilbert and Alda (Clausnitzer) Frey. After spending her early years in Medford, Marlene married Ron Bremer in 1959. Together, they shared nearly 65 years of marriage until his passing on January 6, 2024.

As a proud military wife, Marlene traveled with Ron during his years of service, living in Okinawa, Japan; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Marinette, Wisconsin and Fort Benning, Georgia. Marlene and her daughters returned to Medford during 2 of Ron's 3 tours in Vietnam. After Ron's retirement the couple returned to Medford. Marlene worked as an administrative assistant for Enerquip, Prochnow Trucking and Hurd Millwork until her retirement in 2005.

Marlene's passion for life extended to many hobbies. She was an active member of the Twisted Threads Quilt group creating award-winning quilts, sang in the choir and played handbells at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She often sang and played guitar as part of a duo with Carey Hartwig for 16 years at local care and resident facilities. She also bowled with the women's league for many years. She and Ron loved country dancing and were members of the Central Wisconsin Country Dancers for 27 years. Additionally, Marlene was very dedicated to her church where she served on the finance committee, attended to fellowship and helped serve for events. She enjoyed skiing, hiking, gardening, painting, and biking with Ron, and walking the river walk in Medford. Her and Ron were snowbirds, traveling to Texas for 13 years in their camper, also traveling to many other places throughout the US.

Marlene is survived by her daughters, Susan Bremer (Geoff Eaton) of Dorset, England and Stephanie (Ron) Hayton of Medford. She is further survived by her siblings, Marvin (Dorothy) Frey, Mark (Patricia) Frey, Michael (Gloria) Frey, Marshall (Anne) Frey, and Marvel Bakri, along with their children, grandchildren, and many other relatives from both the Frey and Bremer families. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Avis Lebiecki.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron Bremer, and her parents, Hilbert and Alda Frey.
