Marlene Joyce Cadarette, 89, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center – Alpena.

Marlene Joyce VanNatter was born in Alpena on May 14, 1936, to the late Carl and Mabel (Haken) VanNatter and married Richard Cadarette on December 26, 1969. Marlene was a member of the VFW Alpena Post 2496 Auxiliary, Eagles, the Moose Lodge, enjoyed doing crafts, gardening and spend many years wintering in Florida. Marlene also enjoyed music, where she played in bands, playing the spoons, and the washtub base.

Surviving are her husband, Richard; 4 children, Glen (Ramona) Suszek, Allen Suszek, Peggy Suszek, Terry (Jo Ann) Suszek; 2 stepdaughters, Michelle "Mickie" (Kim Brown) Cadarette, Dayna Cadarette; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Linda Monroy, Sandy Copping, Patty (Dave) St. John, Sharon (Stan) Wahoski; many nieces and nephews.

Marlene was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Suszek; 1 grandchild; 6 siblings, Betty Orm, Shirley Suszek, Mervin VanNatter, Gary VanNatter, Kenneth VanNatter and Doris Soltysiak.

A Celebration of Marlene's life will take place at the Maplewood Tavern on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 3 p.m. Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
