Marlene Beatrice Garrett passed away at the age of 89 years old on February 11, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Tom (2018) for over 65 years. Beloved mother of Steve (Leanne Ginn), Ann (Bob) Hudak, the late Jim, Dave (Mary Hegarty), Rick (Kathleen Grimm), Mary Costa and the late Ken. Loving grandmother of Nicole (Doug) Scott, Phillip (Debbie), Paul (Melissa), Rachael (Mateen) Zafer, Danielle, Emily, Dan, Meghan, Elizabeth, Claire, Tom and John and great grandmother of Arabella, Lucille, Oliver, Lyndon, Jack, Josephine, Gabriella, Alicia, Isaac, Juniper, Olivia, Ellis, Jackson, Simon, and the late Lincoln. Outside of Marlene's family life, she was a teacher and principal for over 20 years, a devout Catholic, and lifelong Detroit Lions and Red Wings fan. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 13 from 2 - 7 pm at the Charles Step Funeral Home, 18425 Beech Daly (between 6-7 Mile Rd) in Redford 48240. In state services will be on Saturday, February 14 at 12 noon Mass at Corpus Christi Parish, 19800 Pembroke Detroit, MI 48219 (7 1/2 Mile at Evergreen- formerly St. Gerard). Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
