Marlene G. Gates of Kilmarnock passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 94. She is survived by her two daughters, Roni Esparza (husband Mike) and Beth Koeberle. She has one grandson, Scott Raffensperger (wife Ana); sister, Carrie and brother, Dick (wife Jean); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marlene married the love of her life, Edwin Gates, who passed away last year. They were married for 73 years and had a beautiful and love-filled life together. They spent the majority of their marriage living in Camp Hill, PA.

Marlene was active in her church and was involved in Girl Scouts and school activities in support of her daughters. She was an avid sports fan - never wanting to miss a Penn State or Pittsburgh Steelers game. Traveling was her favorite pastime; she and Ed enjoyed worldwide touring and cruising as well as domestic travel within the States. Marlene and Ed moved to Kilmarnock in 2014 to be close to their daughters. They loved the town of Kilmarnock and enjoyed attending and becoming active in both the Lutheran church and later in the United Methodist Church. Services will be held at the discretion of the family.
