Marlene Gimpel, Age 91, of Golden Valley passed away at home on December 19, 2024. Preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Gimpel; parents, Allen & Etta Nolan; brother, Harvey Nolan (Ruth). Survived by son, Barry Gimpel (Tatiana); daughters, Ellyn Gimpel and Wendy Rosenthal (Doug Ohs); grandchildren, Ilan, Ethan and Aliya Rosenthal; and sister, Myra Hayes. Marlene was born in St. Paul and had lifelong friends from Horace Mann School and Central High School. She attended the University of Minnesota and had a long career in retail sales. Marlene loved the Guthrie Theater. Besides attending plays at the theater she was a bookkeeper, created their gift shop, knitted scarves and hats for the play A Christmas Carol, and she traveled around Minnesota with her friends (and sometimes even Aaron joined in) promoting the theater by performing costume shows. Marlene and Aaron loved going to New York to attend Broadway shows, skiing in Colorado, spending winters in Florida, and they would drive thousands of miles across the country to see their grandchildren. Funeral service 12:00 PM on MONDAY December 23rd at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2323 Fremont Ave S., Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis (JFCS) or to the donor's choice. Shiva 7:00 PM on Monday at 5901 Laurel Ave., Golden Valley.
