Marlene Gertrude Gupton, 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 10, 2026. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Marlene was born March 14, 1943 in Shallotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Ned Gupton and the late Agnes Annie Andrews Gupton. She retired from the CIA where she enjoyed a long and fulfilling career. She attended Victory Baptist Church in James Island. She loved spending time with family and friends, attending oyster roast and doting on her beloved cat, Potus. Marlene spoke to everyone who walked by her house.
She is survived by her siblings: Joseph Hardee Gupton (Priscilla) of Supply, NC and Carolyn Gupton Floyd (Billy) of James Island, SC; four nephews: Yates Gupton (Beth) of Fredericksburg, VA., William Clement Floyd (Melanie) of Johns Island, SC, William Jeffrey Floyd (Lane) of Charleston, SC, William Michael Floyd (Sonya) of Walterboro, SC; and daughter, Lisa Hoffman (Rod) of San Antonio, TX; two grandsons: William Hoffman and Adam Hoffman, both of San Antonio, TX; and three great grandchildren, Kaelyn, Brianna, and Nick, all of San Antonio, TX. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nephew, Joel Gupton and William T. Floyd.
