Funeral services for Mrs. Marlene Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Humble Baptist Church, Glenmora, with Reverends John Parker and A.J. Trosclair officiating. Interment will follow in Occupy #2 Cemetery, Pitkin, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Johnson, 80, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 26, 2026, at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose compassion touched everyone she met. A devoted member of Humble Baptist Church, she lived her faith through kindness and service. She found joy working in her yard and especially cherished time spent baking with her great-grandchildren. After many years of dedicated service, she retired from the Vernon Parish School Board, leaving behind a legacy of care, hard work, and love.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Roger Dale Johnson; her parents, Roy and Amy West; one brother, Steve West; one sister, Jaunice West; and one great granddaughter, Marley Harper.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include two sons, Rodney Johnson (Cynthia) of Pineville, and Greg Johnson of Pitkin; one brother, Lavonne West of Pitkin; four grandchildren, Hannah Bass (John), Kimberly Harper (Kerry Wayne), Justin Johnson (Sarah), and Trent Johnson; and twelve great grandchildren, Tucker, Tara, Willa, Jacob, McKenzie, Gracie, Faith, Josie, Hunter, Riley, Logan, and Hayden.
A time of visitation will be held at Humble Baptist Church, Glenmora, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Greg Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Kerry Wayne Harper, Justin Johnson, Trent Johnson, John Bass. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Johnson, Jake Bass, and Lonuel Thompson.
