Marlene D. Malone, 51, of Front Royal, VA passed away Friday, August 29, 2025 at the Winchester Medical Center. She was born October 26, 1973 in Mississippi the daughter of Charles Fredric Schmidt and the late Jeannette Darlene (Malie) Schmidt.

Marlene received her Master's Degree from Capella University and worked as a Freelance Writer/Editor for numerous people. She was a member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Front Royal where she was involved with the Prayer Chain Group as well as anything else she could help with. She deeply loved her church and her entire church family. She was also an avid reader of Biblical History, enjoyed watching movies with her husband (especially if they involved police chases), was always ready to learn new things, loved her cats and always looked forward to, and would welcome, any visitors.

She married Christopher J. Malone on April 16, 1999 in Camden County, Georgia.

In addition to her father Charles and wife Connie and her husband Chris, Marlene is also survived by two sisters Heidi A. Schmidt and Sonya M. Sheik as well as her nieces, nephews, many friends and her church family.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service on September 27th at 11am at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18 W. 6th Street, Front Royal, VA 22630. Interment will be private.
