We sadly say farewell to our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Marlene Ann Marks who passed peacefully on December 14, 2021.

Marlene Ann Marks was born on January 17, 1933 in the small town of Comfort, Texas, to Kurt and Dora Biermann.

Marlene spent her early years involved in community and school activities ranging from playing on her school basketball team to waving in parades adorned in grace and beauty from a float. She married the love of her life, William James Marks, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort, Texas on July 25, 1953, creating the beginning of a beautiful couple and fulfilling life. Marlene is the beloved mother to Keith, Shelly, and Vance. When Marlene's children were young, the phrase "stay-at-home-mom" didn't exist. It was the usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, Marlene was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors, always making sure they were cared for and had what they needed. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was and the love she had for those she cared for. Marlene always made sure that everyone felt welcomed when they stepped into her home. Her grandchildren knew that there would always be an ice cream or two in the freezer for them when they visited. She lived a full life as a wonderful homemaker. In her later life she would talk about how she kept her house so clean that it would have been ready for the President to visit (depending on who was in office). She had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. Such a beauty inside and out, she was always dressed to the nines adorned with her jewels and classy hats. Marlene would spend her free time using her hands to sew, making clothes for her and others. She was a lover of animals and formed special bonds with each of her pets. She held a special place in her heart for her cat Baba Asher.

Marlene joins her beloved husband, William, sister Dolores, brother David and wonderful parents Kurt and Dora in God's heavenly kingdom.

Marlene's spirit lives on in her son Keith (Denise) Marks of Buda, daughter Shelly (Dell) Boothe of Buda and son Vance (Theogenia) Marks of Johnson City. Eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren with more on the way. Sister Lana (Bob) Fournier, sister in law Jody Biermann and numerous nieces and nephew.

Out of Marlene's request, the family will be holding a private graveside funeral the afternoon of December 17th, 2021.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Marlene's name of your choice to a charity that is close to your heart. Thank you.
