Marlene Kay Montour, a beacon of generosity and love, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, at the age of 78, in Westland, Michigan. Born on August 29, 1946, in Wayne, Michigan, to Arthur and Pearl Hurrelbrink, Marlene's spirited nature and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Marlene's journey through life was marked by her enduring love for her family. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Danny Dailey and Jessica Salsbury, and her dear great-grandchildren, Blake, Chase, and Tyler, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and compassion. Marlene was a source of strength and inspiration to her family, a role she cherished above all else. She joins in eternal rest her beloved husband, Richard Montour, her treasured daughter, Kimberly Ann Dailey, and her brothers, William and Ken Hurrelbrink, who preceded her in death.
Throughout her career, Marlene was the friendly voice on the other end of the line as a dedicated telephone operator with AT&T. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her involvement in various associations where she formed lasting friendships and made significant contributions through her service.
Marlene's home was a magical place, adorned with fairy doors that reflected her love for all things enchanting. She was an avid crafter, imbuing her creations with the same love and care she showed to those around her. Her passion for crafting was rivaled only by her love for travel. Marlene found particular joy in visiting Shipshewana, Indiana, where she would explore craft stores and immerse herself in the community's rich creative culture.
Those who knew Marlene would describe her as a generous, loving, and spirited soul. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room with her presence and to make everyone feel welcomed and valued. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she often went out of her way to help others in any way she could.
Marlene's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her spirit will continue to live on through the memories she created with her loved ones. She was a guiding light, a loving matriarch, and a friend to all. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the enduring strength of familial bonds.
As we bid farewell to Marlene Kay Montour, we celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives. Her love will continue to guide us, and her memory will forever be cherished. Marlene's story is not one of sorrow, but one of joy and the beauty of a life well-lived. Her legacy of love, creativity, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
