Marlene Lunsford Nichols, age 84, of Laurel, Indiana died early Thursday morning, June 5, 2025 at her residence, following a lengthy illness. Born October 14, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Matt & Viola (Perkins) Shelton. Marlene was a beautician and cosmetologist. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing euchre, bingo, and attending garage sales. Survivors include two children; David Lunsford of Batesville, Indiana, and Gina Dirkhising of Laurel, Indiana; five grandchildren, Davey Allen, James (Nicole) Phillips, Jessica Phillips, Jennifer (Eric Harvey) Mercurio and Jesse David Lunsford; 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Lunsford, Leon Nichols and Joe Harvey; two grandsons, Matthew Allen and Cody Phillips; and her siblings, Julie Abel, Bob Abel, Juanita Miller, Patricia Calihan, and Gordon Helderman. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
