Marlene Sato Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laughlin Service Funeral Home & Crematory - Huntsville on Jul. 23, 2024.
Marlene Louise Rhodes Sato, 86 years old, of Huntsville, passed away on Thursday, July 18th, 2024. She was born in Knightstown, Indiana. Marlene was preceded in death by her loving husband Tomio Sato. They were married for 65 years.
Marlene is survived by her sister, Susan Griffin; sons, Stanley, Sam (his wife, Sheila), and Cliff Sato; daughter, Julie Harrell (her husband, Alan); grandchildren, Anthony Sato (his wife, Teriea), and Amanda and Brandon Harrell; great-granddaughter, Chloe Sato; and several nieces and nephews.
Marlene loved gardening, beadwork, cooking, and picnics at the family's lakefront cabin. She always loved to have the family at her home for family gatherings. She was smart and had a creative soul, and never quit anything that she started. She was one who was never afraid to go against the grain and be herself. She was selfless and was always thinking of what she could do for others. Over the years, she worked in administration, as a caregiver for other families, but her greatest and favorite job was being a homemaker and being the best Mom and Grandma to her kids and grandchildren.
Marlene fought a short but brave battle with cancer.
A private family celebration of her life will be held to honor her.
In Marlene's memory, the family asks for donations to be made to Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care, 10000 Serenity Ln., Huntsville, AL 35803, or an animal rescue shelter of your choice.
