Marlene Simbob, 91, of Crystal Falls, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital.
She was born at home on July 13, 1933, in Phelps, WI, to Douglas and Violet (Anderson) Hunter. The family moved to Crystal Falls and she graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1951. She married Alex Simbob on November 15th, 1952, at the Christ United Methodist Church. The couple enjoyed 65 years of marriage together prior to Alex's passing. Marlene worked at JC Penney, the Medicare Facility and retired from the Ben Franklin Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Alvin "Ole" and Douglas "Bruce" (Alda) Hunter; daughter-in-law, Denise Simbob; son-in-law, Greg Hoffman; granddaughter Alisa Anne Simbob; brothers-in-law Julius "Hop" (Rose) Simbob, Edward Simbob "Edju" and Norbert "TT" Berg.
She is survived by three children, Jeffrey Simbob of Lansing, Sherrie (Douglas) Selissen of Green Bay, and Sally Hoffman of Midland; two grandchildren, Justin Hoffman and Lauren Hoffman; two step-grandchildren, Douglas (Lai) Selissen and Jammi (Chuck) Aguon and their families; brother, Stanley VanTroba; sisters-in-law, Marge Simbob, Lannie Berg and Sharon (Mike) Feldhausen; and several beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no service per her wishes.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and thrift shopping. If desired, the family suggests that monetary donations be sent to the local St. Vincent de Paul Society, 136 Superior Ave., Crystal Falls, MI, 49920.
