Marlene Ann (Riedel) Stroetz, 76, of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. Marlene was born on January 15, 1948, in Queens, New York, to the late Otto and Margaret (Becker) Riedel. In 1967 Marlene married the love of her life, Herbert "Bud" Stroetz, in Long Island, who survives.
Marlene graduated form Sewanhaka High School in New York. After graduation Marlene worked as a homemaker and then began working as a Teacher Aid for over 20 years. Marlene moved to Indiana and began working at HeadStart in Bloomington for 6 years. Marlene had a passion for teaching children.
Marlene also had a passion for not only teaching children, but bring children to the Lord. She volunteered at church and taught Sunday school and Awana for over 40 years. When she became a born-again believer at the age of 26, she lived a determined life to share God's love to everyone she met. Anyone that knew her, knew that she would always have God's insight to know when someone needed prayer and support. She would pray and continue to pray until God's peace came. She lived her life for God first, family second, and then for her dogs.
In her free time, Marlene enjoyed to drag race her green thunderbird around. She had a passion for dogs, especially golden retrievers. She was also known to have a gift for finding a deal when she was out shopping. Her most cherished past time she spent with her family, and especially her grandchildren.
Marlene is survived by her husband; Herbert "Bud" Stroetz, children; Jennifer Stroetz, Brad (Colleen) Stroetz, grandchildren; Genevieve and Tyler Stroetz.
