Marlene L. Walsh, 78, of Kinnelon, passed away on Thursday January 19, 2023.
Born in Passaic, Marlene was the daughter of Randall and Marie VonderHeyden. She grew up in Wayne and married Robert Walsh in 1972. The couple settled in Kinnelon where they have lived happily since 1978. Marlene worked as a school cafeteria aid when her children were young and later worked for the town of Kinnelon as a crossing guard for over 20 years. Marlene got to know generations of students and parents over those many years. She was an avid gardener who loved being outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
Marlene is lovingly survived by her husband, Robert; her sons, Brian and Jonathan and his partner Brandy Stowe; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Randell VonderHeyden and Marie (LaScola) and her brother, Randall VonderHeyden, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am in Our Lady of the Magnificat RC Church, Kinnelon. Interment will follow at Mount Rest Cemetery, Butler.

Marlene always had a smile on her face. She loved telling me any update about her sons and she loved all of the students she cared for. I will miss seeing her at her crossing guard post and around Fayson Lakes.
