Jacqueline Bennett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by M. John Scanlan Funeral Home - Pompton Plains on Dec. 6, 2025.
Jacqueline M. Bennett, 89, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. Born in Hackensack on January 17, 1936, Jacqueline was the daughter of Gilbert M. Dunne and Helen F. Venturi. She was raised in Teaneck and graduated from Teaneck High School in 1954.

In 1955, Jacqueline married her first husband, Edward F. Gallagher, and together they raised their family in Ridgefield, where she lived for more than 60 years. After Edward's passing in 1979, Jacqueline returned to the workforce and continued her career as a secretary with Nabisco in Fair Lawn, until her retirement in 1990. She later married William F. Bennett in 1986, and they shared a loving life together until his passing.

Jacqueline was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from her family. She was a longtime parishioner of the Catholic Church and was known for her kindness, gentle nature, and strong moral character-she never spoke ill of anyone and was loved by all who knew her. In her later years, Jacqueline enjoyed golfing, cornhole, bowling, and bocci with friends at Cedar Crest. She cherished social time and formed lifelong bonds with those around her.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Gallagher and William F. Bennett and her brother Gilbert. Jacqueline is survived by her children: Theresa "Terry" Finizio and her husband Joe; Edward T. Gallagher and his wife Silvana; Daniel M. Gallagher and his wife Erika; and Christopher J. Gallagher and his wife Denise. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Lisa (Matt), Nicholas (Deanna), Joseph (Becca), Allison (John), Daniel, and Matthew; as well as her four great-grandchildren; Maris, Matthew, Charlotte and Juliette.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at George Washington Memorial Park.
