Marlies Wolf Plotnik was with us for 97 years, from September 18, 1927 to March 26, 2025. She was married to Gene Plotnik (1925-2008) for 58 years. She is survived by her sons, Ned and Will Potter; their wives, Beth Thomas Potter and Joanne Ruckel; four grandchildren, David, Daniel, Kate and Jonathan; a niece, Nora Wolfson; and two nephews, Adam Wolfson and Steven Wolf. We've held a private funeral.
She was born in Darmstadt, Germany, the youngest child of Hermann David Wolf and Irene Oppenheimer. They came to New York City in 1939. She graduated from Barnard College in 1949 and had a long career in advertising. She lived most of her life in New York and in Scarsdale, N.Y. She was the sister of Paul Wolf (1922-92) and Ellen Wolfson (1924-98).
If you wish to make a donation, we might suggest the Leo Baeck Institute, 15 West 16th Street, New York, NY 10011, where she left her papers. https://www.lbi.org/support/.
