Christian Biography of Marlin LeRoy Cox
Marlin LeRoy Cox, the son of Robert Duane and Vella Mae (Melvin) Cox, was born on February 12, 1936 at home in Nora, Nuckolls County, Nebraska, one of two children. He passed away on August 17, 2024 at Bryan Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 88 years.
He attended grade school in Nora until 8th Grade and graduated from Nelson High School in the Class of 1953. He was drafted into the Army on November 2, 1954, serving during the post-Korean War and was honorably discharged on November 1, 1956. While in service he was assigned to the Artillery Division.
Upon returning home from the service, he started farming with his step-dad. On September 8, 1957 he was united in marriage to Donna Elaine Korbelik at the First Presbyterian Church in
Nelson, Nebraska. This union was blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters. In 1960 they purchased a farm east of Nelson which he farmed for 40 years while milking cows for 10 to 12 years, started farrowing sows to sell feeder pigs and also added a cow/calf operation. He quit farming in 1995 and started working at Reinke's as a welder on the manufacturing of trailers until he retired in 2007. They moved to town in 2007 and he started working part time for a couple of local farmers around Nelson. His main job upon retirement was the taking care of the yard during the summer, which was his pride and joy.
His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to him. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Going to visit them when possible and enjoying the get-togethers during the holidays. That was always an enjoyable time spent with them.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in
Nelson, Nebraska and transferred to the First Presbyterian Church in
Superior, Nebraska which he has been a member of since 1995 and served as a Deacon several times through the years.
