Marlin Gregerson of Rush City passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Estates of Fridley at the age of 73 after a prolonged hospitalization due to liver cancer.
Marlin Albert Gregerson was born November 27, 1947 to Albert and Ina (Schultz) Gregerson in Rush City, Minnesota.
Marlin graduated from Rush City High School in 1965. He attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth to receive a bachelor’s degree in botany, which turned into a lifelong love of trees, flowers and shrubs. He was also a certified ham radio operator and scuba diver.
Marlin’s work life was varied; he was employed as a machinist, construction worker, fire ranger and ship cleaner for the US Coast Guard. He even purchased a grave digging machine and dug graves in the area. But his primary job was with the United States Postal Service; at the bulk mail center in Eagan where he worked as an electrical technician.
Marlin lived the majority of his life in his childhood home south of Rush City. Living the single life, he was a very generous person who really enjoyed Asian foods and loved to tip big at restaurants. He was well read, loved electronic technology, watching PBS, researching genealogy and was actively involved in the North Chisago Historical Society. He was also a collector of art in the form of pottery, Japanese prints, jewelry, and a silver buckle collection.
Marlin was an honest and humble man! His intellect served him well, allowing him to be actively involved in many avocations and to remain independent. He was witty, adventuresome, generous and very kind.
Marlin is survived by his sister Karen (Frank) Specht of Quincy, IL; nephews and nieces David Moechnig (Jessica) of Farmington, IL, Erika (Derek) Long of Centralia, MO, Keith Moechnig of Roseville; great-nephews and great-nieces Clayton, Delaney, Jamie, Hannah, Morgan, Mark and Madelyn; many beloved cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Ina Gregerson; brother Leslie Gregerson.
Funeral services for Marlin: 2:30 PM; Friday (11/19) at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City. A time for family and friends to gather is planned from 5-7 PM; Thursday.
