Marlin Younge Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 30, 2025.
Marlin D. Younge, 92, of Stanwood, Michigan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 28, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1933, in Lapeer County, Michigan, to Grant D. Younge and Laura (Sutherland) Younge.

On March 22, 1958, Marlin married the love of his life, Lila Crake. Together they shared many memorable years, building a life centered on family, love, and quiet devotion.

Marlin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a longtime member of the Brown City Masonic Lodge. Following his military service, Marlin worked for General Motors in Flint, including at Buick City, where he was a skilled die maker for 42 years before retiring.

An outdoorsman at heart, Marlin enjoyed golfing on occasion and especially looked forward to time spent in the woods. He loved chasing whitetail deer and enjoyed running squirrel, rabbit, and pheasant whenever he could get one to fly. Known as a quiet man, Marlin would open up after a whiskey sour or two, revealing his heart of gold, charming smile, and gentle sense of humor. He was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him.

Marlin is survived by his beloved wife, Lila Younge; his daughter Tammy (Scott) Staunton; sons, Craig Younge, Carter (Dawn) Younge. His sister, Beverly Gallagher; his grandchildren, Nathaniel (Carrie) Staunton, Taylor (Sarah) Staunton, Parker Younge, Kyle (Sarah) Younge and Preston Younge; and his great-grandchildren, Ava, Emerson, Althea, Apollo, and August. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Laura Younge, and his brothers, Robert Younge, Thomas Younge, Guy Younge, and Joseph Younge.

In accordance with Marlin's wishes, his family will honor his life privately, cherishing the many memories he leaves behind.
