Marlis A. Gorden, 88, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Riverview Place, Fargo, ND.
Marlis Ann Inwards was born November 8, 1937, in Brainerd, MN, the daughter of Walter and Margret (Kruger) Inwards. She was raised in Brainerd and graduated from Brainerd High School in 1955. On January 21, 1956, Marlis was united in marriage to Michael W. Gorden, and their union was blessed with two sons and three daughters. “George” and “Annie”, as they affectionately called each other, were married for 61 years.
Throughout their life together, Marlis and Michael made their home in Brainerd, the Twin Cities, Ada, Hawley, Park Rapids and Moorhead. Following Michael’s passing on November 29, 2017, Marlis made her home in Moorhead, Park Rapids and Fargo until moving to Nebraska. In November of 2025, she returned to Fargo and resided at Riverview Place.
Marlis enjoyed baking and cooking and making a home for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and sewing and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Diane) Gorden, Daniel Gorden, Corinne (Randy) Massie, Laurie (Dwight) Patterson and Lisa Gorden; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Cheri) Inwards and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael; son-in-law, Robert Bosell; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Diane Inwards.
Private interment will take place at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN, at a later date.
