Marlon Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home - Vance Ave on Mar. 3, 2026.
Marlon DeJuan "Chunk" Brown was born January 20, 1976; the beloved son to Leroy and Gloria Jean Brown in Memphis, Tennessee. Marlon Brown entered eternal rest February 20, 2026. Marlon was a lifelong Memphian who carried the spirit of his city with quiet strength and steady kindness. Though both of his parents preceded him in death, the love and values they instilled in him were evident in the way he lived his life. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tony "TJ"; four uncles, Willie, Floyd (Brenda), Amos Jr., and Robert; as well as four aunts, Evelyn, Bobbie Jean, Minnie Pearl, and Dorothy.

He leaves behind; his devoted son, Marlon Brown, Jr. who was his pride and joy. Marlon also leaves to cherish his memory; four brothers, Deacon Shedrick, Rodney (Lydia), Marvel (Sandra), and Marlo (Lamika); five sisters, Cheryl, Phyllis (Kimber), Shante (Sherman), Shana (James), and Shanika (Antonio); one uncle, James (Pearl); and one aunt, Martha. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a loving uncle whose presence, humor and calm spirit will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews. Marlon got his nickname "Chunk" because he was the biggest out of nine children. Marlon was known for being kind and gentle. He had a quiet strength about him and a heart that made people feel comfortable and welcome. He carried himself with dignity and took pride in being clean, well-kept, and presentable at all times. His character spoke for itself. He was dependable, loving, and steady. A loyal fan of the Denver Broncos, Marlon enjoyed watching the games and supporting his team through every season. Whether celebrating a win or standing firm through a tough loss, his loyalty never wavered. Marlon loved fishing and his favorite fish was the Big Bone Buffalo. Those who knew Marlon will remember his calm demeanor, his love for family, and the gentle way he moved through life. His legacy lives on through his son and the many lives he touched simply by being himself. Marlon's memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His kindness will not be forgotten, and his spirit will continue to live on through his family.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at RS Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, 374 Vance Ave, Memphis, TN 38126. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 12:00noon at The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ 2993 Park Ave, Memphis, TN 38114

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery 824 S Dudley St, Memphis, TN 38104
