Marlow M. Walter, age 81, of Orangeville, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the SSM Monroe Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. The son of Marian and Verda (Hurless) Walter, Marlow was born on February 25, 1944, in Freeport, IL. He met the love of his life Mildred "Millie Beightol and they were married on August 26, 1967, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI and together they raised three children: Scott, Jeffrey and Amy Jo.
Marlow was a lifelong farmer. In 1955, Marlow's Father Marian purchased a farm in Orangeville, IL. Marlow had helped on the family farm for many years and served on the Orangeville Fire Department until he and Millie purchased a farm in Central Wisconsin. They raised and milked dairy cows for 12 years there. While living up there he also worked for their local farmer co-op. In 1988 they moved back to Orangeville where they continued their dairy operation on his family's farm that he took over. He had also worked at Swiss Colony in Monroe in the maintenance department and for Barr Trucking.
Marlow loved animals. Throughout his life he had his cows, buffalo, peacocks, long horn steers and horses, which he was particularly fond of. He also found great joy in buying and selling antique vehicles. His collection at one point even included an Amish buggy. If you were a visitor of Marlow's, you know you couldn't leave unless you went out to the barn to view his collection of things that ranged from old antiques to his long horns, and family keepsakes.
Marlow is survived by his loving wife of 58 years- Millie of Orangeville, IL; 3 children- Scott (Heidi) Walter if Monroe, WI, Jeffrey (Emily) Walter and Amy Jo Walter, all of Orangeville, IL; and 5 grandchildren- Andrew Turpin, Kyle Walter, Kourtney Walter, Jillian Walter, and Kraig Walter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Maure.
Per Marlow's request no services will be held.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
A memorial has been established in his memory for the Orangeville Fire Department.
