Marlys M. Lochner, 82, of Sleepy Eye passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Madison, S.D.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with Reverend Tim Berg officiating. Burial will follow in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
Visitation was held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. The visitation will continue from 10 - 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.

Marlys Margaret Schiroo was born on July 3, 1943, in Glencoe to Herbert and Evelyn (Bartels) Schiroo. She was baptized on July 18, 1943, and confirmed in her faith on April 14, 1959, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Penn Township, Brownton. Marlys was a 1961 graduate of Brownton High School. She was united in marriage to Eugene Lochner on August 5, 1967, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. After receiving schooling to become a lab and x-ray technician, Marlys worked at Waconia Ridgeview Hospital before working at Sleepy Eye Hospital. She worked twice at Sleepy Eye Hospital, once before she was married and then after until she retired. In 1996, Marlys was honored with the Sleepy Eye Hospital employee of the year award. In addition, she worked one year as the cook for St. John's Lutheran School. Marlys was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a lifelong member of St. John's Ladies Aid where she held multiple officer positions. She also was a member of Brown County Republican Party and Sleepy Eye GFWC Women's Club, where she served as president and secretary.
Marlys is survived by her daughter, Kay (Brad) Ruden of Bruce, S.D.; granddaughter, Kaitlin Ruden of Brandon, S.D.; brother, Lyle Schiroo of Shakopee; niece, Donna (John) Miller of Litchfield; nephews, Bryan (Diana) Schiroo of Wadena and Mark Schiroo of Hutchinson; and great-nieces, -nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Lochner in 2009; her parents, Herbert and Evelyn Schiroo; brother Darwin Schiroo; and father-and mother-in-law, George and Esther Lochner.
Memorial contributions are preferred to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye or Sleepy Eye Healthcare Foundation.
