Big Rapids - Marsha Kay Schoenborn, age 74, of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully August 23, 2025, at the Comfort Home in Reed City. Born on April 1, 1951, to Juanita (Wheatherby) Harvey. Marsha grew up in the Grand Rapids area and attended Creston High School. On September 12, 1970, Marsha married the love of her life, Alfred Schoenborn, and together they built a beautiful life in Big Rapids. Alfred preceded her in death on April 15, 2009. The two were blessed with two children, Joe and Tracey, and Marsha devoted herself to being an active and loving mother. She coached Little League Baseball, led Girl Scout troops, and was always deeply involved in her children's lives. Marsha had a generous spirit and a heart for helping others. She spent many hours volunteering, cooking at the local soup kitchen, and enjoying her time at the Senior Center. She loved gardening, reading, doing crafts, and watching NASCAR. Marsha also had a passion for music and dancing and was always up for a good movie or a spontaneous trip. Known for her strength, humor, and vibrant personality, Marsha was outspoken and witty, with a touch of sarcasm that her family and friends adored. Her children lovingly joke that she's probably up in heaven already letting God know how things will be from now on. Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her mother, Juanita; and her father- and mother-in-law, Joseph and Lena Belle Schoenborn. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joe (Sandra) Schoenborn; her daughter, Tracey Maynard; her beloved grandchildren, Benny, Collin, and Bradley Schoenborn, Chad Bentley, and David (Kaylynn) Maynard; and her great-grandson, Oliver Schoenborn. Also holding her memory close are the dear friends she made at the Senior Center, as well as Chris and Elizabeth Bartaway, who cared for her so lovingly. Cremation will take place, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Marsha will be remembered for her laughter, strong will, and love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion.

I only knew Marsha for about a year. But in that year she brightened a lot of lives at BLM. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She will be missed.
