Marsha L. Smith, 81, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 7:31 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street in Arcola, IL. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, at the funeral home.
Marsha was born on May 19, 1944, in Winchester, IN. She was a daughter of Charles Omer and Reba Elizabeth (Kirk) Mitchell. She married Leroy Smith on February 16, 1975, in Farmland, IN. He passed away on August 22, 2008.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Carla) Schlenker of Decatur, IN, Rex (Lisa) Schlenker of Lewisburg, PA, and Michael (Kristina) Smith of Tuscola, IL, seven grandchildren, Vickie (Rob) Cook of Bluffton, IN, Lisa (Danny) Koughn of Ossian, IN, Branden Schlenker, Blake Smith, Bailey (Colby) Knerr, Austin (Ericka) Miller and Cory Smith all of Tuscola, IL; eleven great grandchildren, five siblings, Nina Howell of Farmland, IN, Rosemary Swingly of Cincinnati, OH, Fred (Mary) Mitchell of Sebring, FL, Sandra Knotts of Albany, KY, and Diane (Dave) Galtney of Muncie, IN.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy Smith, and three siblings, Dorothy Knuckles, Betty Stevens, and Lou Mills, as well as her best friend Sue Davis.
Marsha received her nursing certificate from Lakeland College and spent the next 40 years serving in the healthcare industry. She worked at Arcola Health Care, Carle Arbors, and retired from ClarkLindsey Village in Urbana with over 23 years of service.
Marsha enjoyed working puzzles on her computer and would compete with her sister and niece online to see who could complete puzzles the fastest. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball.
Her favorite thing to do was simply spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
