Marsha (Haun) Woods, March 25,1950 – June 21, 2025
Marsha (Haun) Woods, age 75, passed away peacefully with her devoted husband, John and daughter Amanda by her side following a courageous and grace-filled battle with cancer.
Born in Weiser, Idaho on March 25, 1950, Marsha was the firstborn child of Robert "Bob" Haun and Norella "Nellie" (Fox) Haun. She spent her early childhood in Hood River, Oregon. She proudly took on the role of big sister to brothers, Robert Jr. (Bobby) and Thomas (Tommy). The family later returned to Weiser, where Marsha completed her education and graduated from Weiser High School in 1968. During those formative years, she made lifelong friends, cheered with the Pep Club, and worked at the local Dairy Queen and Bon Ton-early signs of her vibrant spirit and love for connecting with others.
In the spring of 1967, Marsha set eyes on John Woods at a dance, while he was home from Basic Training. They were married on April 5, 1969, and began a life filled with love, partnership and unwavering devotion. In 1970, a job transfer brought them to Burley, Idaho, where Marsha's deep care for others shone through her work as an activity director at a care center. She also donated her time and heart to the March of Dimes, where she served as Chapter Co-Chair and organized community walk-a-thons with enthusiasm and pride.
While living in Burley, Marsha and John welcomed their first daughter, Amanda, arriving on February 20, 1976, -a true miracle at just 1 lb. 14 oz. Marsha never stopped celebrating Amanda's strength. She continued to be active in the March of Dimes and proudly had her "little" Amanda by her side as she became Marsha's show-and-tell at promotional talks and events.
In 1981, the Woods family returned to Weiser, where Marsha took on new roles as Sales Rep and recruiter for Avon. Over the next several years Marsha was busy as wife and mother, working for curves (10 yrs) along with advertising at KWEI Radio of Weiser, and KIZN of Boise. She found joy in storytelling, writing promotional pieces for Surviving Hearts-Cancer Support Group, local organizations, and contributing to Living in the News-using her gift for words to uplift and inspire.
On April 21,1983 Marsha and John welcomed their second little angel, Amy Dayle, who was loved and adored. Though Amy's life was cut short for this world, Marsha's love was eternal. Amy passed away on January 20, 1984.
Marsha spent her final 8 years doing what she loved most: being the ultimate Boise cheerleader for her prized grandsons, Conner, Bronsen, and Egen. She was one of their biggest fans, attended their sporting events and had the attire for each. Her toughest decision? Which sweatshirt to wear! Often caught confusing the "Raptors", the "Falcons", or the "Eagles"; Marsha knew it was some kind of bird-close enough, right?
Among the many hats she wore and hobbies she enjoyed, reading and writing were her favorites. Marsha spent many hours reflecting and writing; her talent and expression were second to none. Her flair for writing left the family with a cherished collection - "Marsha's Muse."
Anyone lucky enough to know Marsha knew they had a lifelong friend. She knew no stranger and if you stopped by to chat, you best have plenty of time. Didn't know Marsha? Never mind, you soon would, and you'd walk away feeling like the most important person on earth. A people person, with a soft spot for babies and children, often stopping mid-conversation to connect with a little one -She taught many how to blow a kiss, catch it & tuck it in your pocket for later and every visit ended with signing "I Love You". Marsha turned grocery store trips into meet-and-greets, often returning home to share with John, tales of how she had met the "nicest couple"
One grandson humorously shared, "Grandma's purse weighed 45 lbs.-she had everything in there but couldn't find anything". Once while a cousin was busily hurrying through the grocery store her young son said, "Mom, shall we skip the next isle? – Aunt Marsha's in it". These beloved quirks and memories illustrate the joyful, lively spirit Marsha shared with everyone around her.
Marsha's love for her Grandma Beryle shaped much of her heart and humor, and the stories and sayings she passed down will live on in the generations that follow.
Marsha leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and unconditional love. She is survived by her devoted husband, John; loving daughter and son-in-law; Amanda and Danny Christy; grandsons; Conner, Bronsen, and Egen Christy; brothers and sisters-in-law; Bob and Betsy Haun, and Tom and Lori Haun, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bob and Nellie Haun and beloved daughter Amy Woods.
The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of St. Lukes Cancer Treatment Center in Fruitland, Idaho for the compassion and kindness they showed during Marsha's care.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 on July 25, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery Annex, Oregon followed by a get-together and refreshments at the Weiser Senior Citizens Center -115 E. Main Street Weiser, Idaho. All are invited to come, visit and share.
