Obituary of Marshall R. Ranz

Marshall R. Ranz, age 72, of Morris, IL passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet. He was born April 30, 1953, in Kankakee, Illinois, to the late Dorothy J. (High) and G. Herbert Ranz. Marshall was raised and educated in Morris, a graduate of Morris Community High School with the class of 1971.

Marshall is survived by his brother, Michael (Carla) Ranz of Lillington, North Carolina; fond uncle of Jeremy Ranz of Henderson, Nevada and Kelsey (Adam) Swartz of Angier, North Carolina. He was also a proud great uncle of Caroline and Henry.

Marshall was a valued employee at the former Hornsby Department Store and he was employed for over 30 years by Wal-Mart in Morris. His hobbies varied, but he never stopped cheering on his beloved Cubbies and Chicago Bears, no matter what their season looked like.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Friday, January, 16, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris, from 12:30 p.m. until a service of remembrance begins at 2:00 p.m.

As it was Marshall's wish, cremation rites have been accorded and his final earthly remains will be interred at a later date near his parents at Kankakee Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Lightways Hospice in Joliet, IL.
