Marshall B. Swauger Jr., age 99, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died at home on January 6, 2025. Born December 17, 1925, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Marshall Sr. and Sadie Mae (Thornton) Swauger and husband of the late Joan (Barry) Swauger.
A proud Navy veteran who served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, Marshall embodied courage and dedication throughout his life. He spent 27 years as a commercial artist in home office sales for G.C. Murphy, where his creative spirit shone brightly. He later contributed his talents at Tom Clark Auto, always bringing enthusiasm and commitment to his work.
Marshall was more than his achievements; he was a true gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor, always ready to share a laugh and offer help. Known as a jack of all trades, there was nothing he couldn't fix, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed. He enjoyed many weekends at his trailer in Somerset with friends and family.
A member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Marshall's faith was an important part of his life. He was also a proud member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Al-O-Mon Forest 138, the Masonic Youghiogheny Lodge #583, and American Legion Post 701 in White Oak, where he continued to give back to his community and foster camaraderie with his fellow veterans.
Marshall is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Swauger) Lockhart; daughter-in-law, Karen (Ken) Almquist; grandchildren, Wendy Ursiny and Sean (Sara) Gordon; great-grandchildren, Lucas Sige, Joshua Sige, Emma Ursiny, Jerry Gordon, and Connor Gordon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Swauger; granddaughter, Jessica Gordon; siblings, Robert Swauger, Majorie Starmack, Tom Swauger, and Sally Lesniewski.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. The burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com. Chris Odasso, Supervisor

Marshall was always the sweetest, kindest, most thoughtful person, who was incredibily creative. I remember the things he built for Marsha and Jerry as kids and how he and my father use to talk up a storm. Marshall was family - like my second dad and I cherish all the visits and experiences from the time I was a child into adulthood. I will always love him and never stop thinking of him.
