Martha Armstrong Obituary

January 29, 1928 - October 3, 2024

Martha Ann Molineux Armstrong, age 96, of Camden, passed away on October 3, 2024.

She was born in West Winfield, NY, the sixth daughter of Roy and Laura (Chellis) Molineux. Martha graduated from West Winfield Central School in 1945. On September 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Francis (Chick) E. Armstrong, a marriage which lasted 55 years until his passing on December 31, 2002. She worked in the Civilian Personnel Management Career Field at the former Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, retiring after thirty years of progressively responsible service. She was honored and privileged to have been selected as the first female Civilian Personnel Officer at the base.

Martha was a long standing member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 1309, Taberg, NY and also was a Past Matron of Holly Chapter #178, Order of the Eastern Star, Rome, NY. She enjoyed collecting and repairing antique dolls and possessed a Certificate of Proficiency in Doll Technology from Lifetime Career Schools. She also built many doll houses and made miniature furniture. Martha had many interests and hobbies which included crocheting, cooking, reading and using her computer. She and her husband also enjoyed many vacations at their former residence in Florida.

Surviving family members include two beloved sons, Edward Armstrong, Munford, AL and Thomas (Debra) Armstrong, Taberg, NY; beloved grandchildren, Jeffrey Armstrong, Danielle (Brian) Busto, Shawn Armstrong, Erin (Kristen) Armstrong, Erica Armstrong, Tommy (Molly) Armstrong, Tara (Brandon) Cullop and Hunter (Breanna) Armstrong; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two special daughters-in-law, Debra C. Armstrong, Virginia and Debra L. Armstrong, Taberg; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge Tracy Molineux for her love and attentiveness.

Martha was predeceased by her parents; husband; a stillborn daughter; five sisters; two brothers; grandson, Brandon Armstrong; and good friend, Candy Kramer.

In accordance with Martha's wishes there are no services or calling hours.

Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of New Hartford, NY or to a charity of choice.
