Martha Louise Barbare

Affectionately known as MaMa B, The Queen, The Matriarch, and Heart of the Family, Martha Porter Barbare, entered the gates of Heaven on May 2, 2025. Widow of Paul Barbare and daughter of Lee Porter and Lois Compton Porter, she would have been 98 in August and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by siblings Odessa Hand, Bill McCarson, Mary Rollins and Herman Leo Porter, along with her beloved Son-in-law, Doug Crane.
She is survived by what she considered to be her earthly treasures, children
Paula Crane, Ron Barbare (Judy), Deb Bradley (Jim), Jim Barbare (Hope) and Rick Barbare (James Trischler), along with her grandchildren Martin and Tyler Crane (Elizabeth), Erick (Tara) and Ryan (Nikki) Barbare, Brett Flowers (Louie), Kiel (Jackie) and Bryan Bradley, Trent (Angela) and Brian Barbare, and Lindsey Zemla (Chris). Great Grandchildren Maddox and Mason Crane, Beckett Barbare, Louie and Charlotte Flowers, Adaire Jones, Chris (Ashley), Chase (Jessica), JJ, Trey, and Brice Bradley, and Rowan Zemla, and Great-great-grands Graham, Carter, and CJ Bradley, along with several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by Isabella Murphy, her companion, caregiver, and best friend, and Rusty Bearden, her best buddy.
A graduate of Mountain View High School, her early years were spent in the Camp Creek Community and she lived most of her life in the Blue Ridge area. As a member of Double Springs Baptist Church she shared her faith by serving as a Bible teacher for thirty years, singing in the choir and serving on various committees and church events. She loved her Lord, her family, her church, her extended family and her many friends, as evidenced by her Christian example. She had the gift of making everyone feel loved and accepted.
She was an avid sports fan and her great joy was watching the Gamecocks play but her most treasured times were spent with her family. For many years she prepared Sunday dinner for all her family, and as the family grew, she always gathered them every month for birthdays and holidays. Christmas Eve at MaMa B's was filled with delicious food, lots of laughter, hugs, and opening numerous gifts in front of the fireplace and Christmas tree. It was an occasion the grandchildren looked forward to every year and the gathering often included fifty loved ones.
Her family will forever be grateful for the love and care provided by Crescent Hospice. LaShannon Thompson, Nurse Charlene Mangle, LaTonia Mack, Charlene Anderson, Chaplain Mike, and Reneather Fowler became part of the family. They loved and cared for her and made her final days full of joy and laughter.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Kevin Elders will officiate. The service will be live streamed at www.doublesprings.org. Her cherished grandsons will proudly serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Double Springs Baptist Church, 3800 Locust Hill Road, Taylors SC 29687.
