Martha Barna Obituary

Published by Legacy on May 30, 2025.
In Loving Memory of Martha "Sue" Barna The beloved matriarch of our family, Martha "Sue" Barna, a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Muirfield on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the age of 95 a day before her 72nd wedding anniversary. Sue dedicated her life to creating and nurturing a loving family alongside her late husband of 59 years, Michael Barna Jr. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful sons and their families, who remained their greatest joy-John Barna (Laura), Mike Barna (Jan), and Jeff Barna (Stacy). Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Sue also leaves behind her sister, Pat Hume, her brother, Fred Stokes, and many treasured nieces and nephews. A woman of faith and unwavering kindness, Sue and Mike were longtime members of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Lexington, KY, and St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Upper Arlington. To know Sue was to love her-her radiant personality, quick wit, and boundless generosity touched the lives of many. Her neighbors, dear friends, and all those fortunate enough to have been part of her journey knew they held a special place in her heart. Sue's ashes will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Upper Arlington. The family will hold a celebration of life at St. Mark's, with details to be shared once finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue's memory may be made to Capital City Hospice Columbus or St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
