It is with heavy hearts and difficulty for the family of Martha Watson Cheek, 80, of
Salisbury, NC, to announce she has gone to her heavenly home. Martha was born on July
3, 1944, in Franklin, NC and passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury with her family by her side.
Her unconditional dedication, commitment, and love were to her late husband, James Ray Cheek, and to their children and families, who she cared deeply for. Along with her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, who she was married to for 58 years before his passing.
She is survived and leaves to cherish her memory, Children: Sherri (Scott) Watts of Mooresville NC, Sharon (Robert) Locklear of Salisbury NC, Steve (Glenda) Cheek of Dallas NC, Michelle (Jamey) Cline, and Mitchell (Stacey) Cheek of Salisbury, NC. Grandchildren: Megan (Kenneth) Gabbert, Courtney Cheek, Zachary (Jessica) Locklear, Joshua Cline, Karlee Cheek, Kaitlynn (Brandon) Smith, Colton Cheek, Lauren Cline, Seth (Jimmie) Locklear, Cody Cheek, Devan Watts, Dylan (Lilly) Cheek, Eli Locklear, Will Cheek, and Matthew Cline. Great grandchildren: Isaac Locklear, Connor Morton, Kinsley Locklear, Ezra Gabbert, Olivia and Georgia Smith, Theodore and Ullysses Locklear, Brooklyn Smith, and Calvin Locklear.
The family will hold a private service at James Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, that will be officiated by Kenneth Gabbert. Graveside service will immediately follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rowan Medical Center Foundation in Salisbury, NC, where Martha was grateful for the care she received.
