Martha Harris Clarke
April 2, 1927 — January 27, 2025
Martha Clarke, age 97, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bells, TN after an extended illness.
Martha, born on April 2, 1927, in Weakley County, TN, was the daughter of the late Dan Irvin Harris and Julia Mae Ledbetter Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Maurice Clarke. Also preceding her in death was a son, Dwight Andrew Clarke; a brother, Howard Harris; three sisters, Sunshine Nelson, Naomi Williamson, and Jessie Stigall. She is survived by a son, Michael Clarke of Memphis, TN, a daughter, Theresa Clarke Lindsey (David) of Hendersonville, TN, a dear cousin and many special nieces and nephews.
She retired as the Rental and Occupancy Supervisor for the Jackson Housing Authority where she served from 1971 to 1989. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for 71 years.
A private graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church cemetery in Carroll County, with the Reverend Gary Snuffin officiating.
