Martha Cutbirth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel and Crematory - Payette on Feb. 26, 2026.
Marsha Mae Cutbirth
February 8, 1956 – February 22, 2026
Marsha Mae Cutbirth, a woman of profound devotion, quiet strength, and a lifelong
caregiver to those she loved, passed away on February 22, 2026 at the age of 70.
Born in Downey, California, on February 8, 1956, Marsha's journey took her from the
suburbs of Los Angeles to the heart of Idaho. After graduating from Edison High
School in Huntington Beach (Class of 1974), she earned her Associate's Degree in
Business from Citrus College in Glendora. In 1980, she moved with her parents to New
Plymouth, Idaho, where she would build a life rooted in family and service.
It was on July 5, 1981, that Marsha met the love of her life, Bertie Steven Cutbirth,
while celebrating his birthday at the Palisades Bar. They were married on August 7,
1982, at the New Plymouth Congregational Church. In a beautiful testament to her
family bonds, Marsha was escorted down the aisle by both of her fathers-Tom and
Jack-who walked proudly together behind her as she moved toward her future.
Marsha's life was defined by her devotion to her children, Jennifer and Scott. Whether
she was volunteering in their classrooms, leading 4-H projects, or ensuring they never
missed a dance recital or cheerleading camp, Marsha was their fiercest advocate and
most loyal supporter.
Marsha's compassion knew no bounds. Following the passing of her mother in 1992,
she stepped into the role of primary caregiver for her father, Christopher; her stepfather,
Jack; and at times, her father-in-law. She gave of herself tirelessly, ensuring her elders
were cared for with dignity and love.
When she wasn't caring for family, she lent her voice to the New Plymouth
Congregational Church choir, serving faithfully starting in 1985 and filling in whenever
a song was needed for years to follow.
Marsha was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Elizabeth McGarrah; her father,
Christopher Columbus Taylor; and her stepfather, Jack Lucien Rous.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Bertie Steven Cutbirth; daughter,
Jennifer (and her husband Lonnie Johnson) Johnson (Cutbirth); son, Scott Andrew
Cutbirth; and her cherished grandsons, Travers Johnson (and his partner, Haley) and
Mick Johnson.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at noon at the Haren-Wood

Funeral Chapel in Ontario. Private interment will follow.
