Martha Elaine Davidson met Jesus face to face on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026.

She was born to James and Georgianna Allverson in Dallas, Texas, where she grew up and attended school. She graduated high school and moved on to attend college at UTA and later UTEP. While in school, she met the love of her life, Hugh Davidson, who she was married to for 65 years.

Survivors include husband Retired USAF Major Hugh Davidson, daughters Amanda Gifford, Elaine Davidson, grandchildren Daniel Davidson, Jacob and Ben Gifford, great grandmother to Tommy Davidson.

Preceded in death by son Mark Davidson, parents James and Georgianna Allverson and brother James Clifton Allverson.

She volunteered many years of service with the Taylor County Jail Ministry as a Chaplain, and also volunteered at the Abilene Pregnancy Counseling Center, two passions of hers. She played the piano for Shining Star Baptist Church for 17 years until 2025. She was a longtime member of Abilene Christian Women’s Club, and became a speaker in many cities across the state of Texas. She sang in the choir at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church from 1976 and was a participant in their Easter Pageant for many years.

She was involved in Bible study for many years, Precept classes, and had an extensive knowledge of the Bible. She was a devout Christian who lived her life by Jesus’ finest tenet: love thy neighbor as thyself, and she did this wholeheartedly. She loved to cook for people with delicious home cooking and blessed many people with food.

Even in the face of Alzheimer’s disease, she remained kind, compassionate and loving. And though time erased our names for her, she always lit up when family came in the room and always said “Oh, it’s so good to see you! I love you so much!”
