Martha JoAnne Dobbs, 85, of Kennesaw, Georgia, went home to be with Jesus, on February 21, 2026. She is rejoined with our mother in Heaven and no doubt she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She was a cherished sister, aunt, and friend and her presence will be deeply missed.
A celebration of JoAnne's life will be held at West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory in Marietta on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their favorite memories.
JoAnne was born in her paternal grandparent’s home in Marietta, Georgia, on December 25, 1940, to Ishmael Dobbs and Pauline Dobbs Lee. She was born prematurely, only weighing 3 lbs at birth. She was the oldest of 4. She was raised at Olive Springs Baptist Church in Marietta. After that, she was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Later, the special needs Sunshine Class continued at McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a social butterfly and loved being on the go. The outpouring of contacts and messages is a testament of the many friends from her churches and nursing home in Cartersville. They lived on farms and always had a vegetable garden. Everyone loved her homemade cornbread. She loved Bingo and Bible Study with friends. And loved any fellowship activity at her church. For years, she made potholders and enjoyed crafts. JoAnne collected Barbie Dolls, spoons, bells, and Beanie Babies. Her infectious laughter and loving spirit brightened the lives of all who knew her.
JoAnne is survived by her brother, Richard Dobbs of Acworth, Georgia; sister, Debbie Dobbs Pitts of Kennesaw, Georgia; brother-in-law, Bobby Crawford of Woodstock, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ishmael Dobbs and Pauline Dobbs Lee; stepfather, Don Lee; and sister, Peggy Dobbs Crawford.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory in Marietta.
The family thanks you for your support and asks that you share this memorial with anyone who was touched by JoAnne’s life. Please visit her online tribute page at Legacy.com to leave a message of condolence or share a favorite memory.
