Martha Lynn Eden

Martha Lynn Eden, age 73, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 3:44 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was born August 24, 1951, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of the late Hal and Martha (Nugent) Palmer.

Martha was a 1969 graduate of Parkwood High School in Joplin, Missouri. She received her bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri and received her master's degree from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. Martha was a junior high and high school teacher in Verona, Missouri, Grandview, Missouri, Miller, Missouri, Sarcoxie, Missouri and Greenfield, Missouri.

Martha enjoyed fishing, going to the horse races and volunteering at the St. Suzanne Catholic Church Food Pantry. She was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Joplin, Missouri.

On September 15, 1972, she married David Eden, in Joplin, Missouri.

Martha is survived by her husband of 52 years, David; one son, Eric Eden of Washington, D.C. and one sister, Sandra Hartley of Webb City, Missouri.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to St. Suzanne Catholic Church Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
