Martha Ann Glessner, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at CountryHouse Residence in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
Martha was born on September 10, 1941, in Eldon, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd Russell and Bessie Marie (Canny) Baber. On December 23, 1963, Martha was united in marriage to Russell Armentrout, and he preceded her in death. On June 21, 1985, Martha was then united in marriage to Harry Edward Glessner in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2025.
Martha had a long and rewarding career for over 30 years with Quaker Oats, until her retirement. She was blessed to be able to retire at age 55, after which she began to travel and enjoyed many cruises. Martha also enjoyed cultivating her flower beds. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Martha is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Julie (Scott) Geers of Walker; two stepchildren, Sheila Wickham of Cedar Rapids, and Greg Glessner of Marion, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jacob Wickham, Nathan (Liz) Armentrout, Cassandra (Dominic) Wickham, Sarah (Chris) Sadler, and Christopher Ekwall; and seven great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Riley, Jaxson, Benjamin, Gabrielle, Malachi, and Kaleysta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Melanie, at birth; and brother, David Baber.
Memorials in Martha’s memory may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, located on 7411 Mt. Vernon Road SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52403.
