Never one to “sit still” for long, Ronny Albert Roe passed quickly from this earth on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Ronny was born January 13, 1947, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Al and Marjorie (Stiner) Roe. Growing up along the Iowa River, Ron spent much of his time outdoors with friends, developing a lifelong love of nature and adventure. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1965, where he was a varsity wrestler. Following graduation, Ronny enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1965 to 1969. A Vietnam veteran, he proudly served aboard the USS Yorktown.
On March 28, 1970, Ronny married Frances Rasmussen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. From this union their daughter, Terri Ann, was born. Ronny and Fran shared 48 years of marriage until Fran’s passing in 2018.
Ron lived life with great enthusiasm. He was an avid golfer, an energetic fisherman, a formidable card player, and a daredevil motorcycle rider. One of his favorite traditions was the annual motorcycle trip he took with his siblings, niece, and nephews. Many will remember Ron for his caring nature, infectious laugh, and willingness to lend a helping hand. A natural problem-solver, he had a knack for diagnosing and fixing almost anything.
Ronny is survived by his daughter, Terri; his beloved dog, Toby; and three siblings: Linda Campbell of Des Moines, Iowa, Loran Roe of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, and Randi Smuck of Mason City, Iowa. He will also be deeply missed by many special friends, including Lynda Schimberg and extended family, Marcia Whiteford, Barbara Skogman, Dennis Baier, Linda Stoner, and Wally Kraus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; his sister-in-law, Lynn Roe; and his brothers-in-law, Steve Smuck and Bobby Campbell.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
